Food itself just has an astonishing power of bringing people together. Chances are when we were asked about our favourite food, we would recall it with someone, somewhere as well.
Food is 'a portal'
Since the very beginning of time, food has played an intrinsic role within societies and families as a bonding agent. The sharing of food builds connection amongst people. Either it is a quick workplace lunch, or intimate dinner parties, or special event banquets, or a Sunday roast, it often creates memories whilst we sit around the table.

We are living in the world where everything is joint. We speak 7,000 different languages, have a countless number of cultural backgrounds, but food can conquer it all. During the mealtime, you can get a glimpse into one’s life – their passions, their history, their lifestyle and culture and vice versa. Thereby, connection is created.
Efforts to convey the message
Many restaurants around the world have tried to convey this message to their diners. In Malaysia, Xing Fu Xiao Guo is known for its good food, but the eyeballs are for the dining experience on the side. The concept is to “matchmaking” individuals over a meal. They provide eaters with opportunity to meet new people and share meals, taking them from strangers to friends (or even soulmates 😉)
I’m so excited for the day there’s a place similar in our beautiful Melbourne. Are you? 😊
